Statement of Faith

  • We believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God, infallible and inerrent in the original writings.
  • We believe there is only one Living and true God, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible, and in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who was with God in the beginning, and in the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth which proceeds from the father and son, is equal with the Father and the Son, and is a gift to the believer.
  • We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ and that He suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried.  The third day He arose again, He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father; and His return is imminent to come again to judge the quick and dead.
  • We believe that Satan is adversary of God and man.
  • We believe that man was created in the image of God, man sinned bringing death to all in his fall.
  • We believe in repentance from sin, in the atonement by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ for the propitiation of the sins of the world.
  • We believe in sanctification and in the baptism, filling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer; We believe in the operation of the gifts in the Church.
  • We believe in baptism by immersion of water.
  • We believe that the Church is the body and bride of Christ and is composed solely of born again believers.
  • We believe the commission of Christ is still incumbent on every believer to go into all the world as witnesses to preach and teach the Gospel to every creature.
  • We look for the resurrection of the body; the rapture of the church, and life everlasting.
  • We acknowledge one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Our Church History

In 1996, Elder Jimmie Copeland  founded Emmanuel, CLG  in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Services were held in an old bank at 455 Wealthy se.  The Lord blessed Pastor Copeland as Emmanuel started with 8 members. In 1997 Pastor Copeland appointed Elder Dale G.Evans as his Assistant Pastor.   The unity of God prospered at Emmanuel.  In 1998 Pastor Copeland received an opportunity to move to Mississippi.  Pastor Copeland received counsel from Bishop James Sherman of the Trinity Central West Diocese.  In that meeting, Pastor Copeland mentioned to Bishop about a new pastor for Emmanuel.  After their conversation and Bishop Sherman approval, Pastor Copeland submitted Elder Dale G. Evans name as the new pastor.  Elder Evans recieved from God to rename the church, asked if he could change the name Emmanuel to New Generation. Bishop Sherman and Pastor Copeland consented.  Elder Copeland resigned in June 1997.  EIder Evans was appointed offically as pastor of Emmanuel CLG.  In August of 1997, Emmanuel was recognized as New Generation CLG.   New Generation moved to it's new place of worship at 345 State se, where they grew by leaps and bounds.  In 2000 New Generation had suffered their storm and was relagated back to the few committed members.
In that same year they moved to another location at 1410 Plainfield NE.  In June 2002 due to financial hardship,  Pastor Dale and Min. Charli Evans reluctantly closed their church doors in Michigan. They began to seek God and took a sabbatical to see where God was sending them next.   Elder Evans moved to Chicago,Illinois to answer a family emergency in 2003.  Elder Evans served under Elder Jimmy McClain at Smith Holy Temple and Bishop Quillar Grice at Solid Rock CLG.  Elder Evans began to receive the unction of the Holy Spirit about pastoring, and talked with Bishop Grice.  She consented to their release to answer the Lord's call.  Pastor Evans now believes that the first church was the seed to plant and now this is the Harvest in Chicago of that church plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  NGHC offically recognized in the Trinity Central West Diocese under Bishop James R. Sherman Dec. 8th 2007 with 11 members.  Pastor & Min. Charli Evans realized that it is God that gives the increase.  Please pray for us as we continue in our faith journey and await our increase at New Generation Harvest Church.

Our purpose at NGHC:
  • to help those whom are hurting,
  • speak truth to those that have been lied to,
  • lift up those whom have been let down,
  • listen to those whom have not been heard.
We are a lively bunch of people that love God and His people. We are excited to be in Chicago, Illinois to spread the Gospel and represent the Kingdom of God for his glory!

If you are ever in need of  a friend, someone to talk to, or maybe a listening ear, we are just one decision away!
